These Aerial Shots Of The Sea Are Stunning

Many times photos of sea landscapes can be quite similar, but Australian photographer Lisa Michele Burns’ beautiful images will totally change your mind. Burns has taken these photos as part of a new project of hers called “The World from the Water” and we wanted to share them with you today.

The photos are published on her website, The Wandering Lens, a site that lists some of the most exciting places around the world for photography alongside tips on travel photography. We hope you enjoy as much as we do!

According to the article on Huffington Post, Burns says her style is “colorful and warm.”  She loves capturing landscapes during the hours of the day when the light is warm and the colors are rich. For her underwater photography, she uses a split-level style, capturing the underwater world and the scenery above the water level in the same image.

Here is what Burns recently told HuffPost Greece: “While I love taking aerial photographs, I actually prefer to see the world through a pair of goggles and my underwater camera. Using the water in my work changes the perspective of each destination and highlights a different view.”

Burns is mainly inspired by the outdoors. She told HuffPost, “I’ve never really been a city or street photographer, I’m much more inspired by beaches, mountains, lakes, the ocean…I recently saw the Northern Lights for the first time in Sweden and that has definitely inspired me to seek out colder destinations for photography alongside my wanderlust for tropical islands!”

See more work from Lisa Michele Burns’ on her website, The Wandering Lens, or follow her on Facebook or Instagram.

Photo Of The Week

This week's photo of the week is called 'Road To Nowhere' that was taken by British photographer Paul Carver

Here is a little of what Carver said about his photo:

"This black and white shot was taken of the railway leading up to Birkenau concentration camp in Poland. I visited Auschwitz recently and the experience will stay with me for a life time. One thing that I value in photography is real life raw photos; photos that capture the good and bad side of humanity."

This infamous railway leading to the gatehouse of the Birkenau concentration camp is one of the most famous railway lines for the wrong reason. For over a million people this was their last destination; a place of no hope. I have chosen this image because it has a story and comes with emotion. The image itself has had little editing - only the clarity and contrast has been altered to give the desired look."

Carver likes for all of his photos to tell a story and engage the viewer in some way. He has a passion for black and white photography and believe these two tones are perfect for creating a dramatic photo. To see more of Paul Carver's work, visit his website at www.pcarverphotography.com. You can also follow him on Facebook and Instagram

Paris History Brought To Life In These Photos By Julien Knez

Photographer Julien Knez was contacted last year, by the editors of Parigramme to work on a special project - to photograph a series that makes readers remember just how much history is stored in the streets of Paris.

After seeing his photographs of Paris' liberation after World War II with what war sites looked like in the present, they commissioned him to do a series on Parisian history, from 1871 to the famous student protests of May 1968.

Here are some photographs from Knez's book, "Paris: Fenêtres sur l'Histoire" that we found on Mashable and had to share with you today! Enjoy!

First, Knez was given access to the Parigramme photo archives. He then selected photographs that he wanted to use for the project and then scouted the exact locations in Paris where they were originally taken.

Knez said to Mashable for the original article, "When historical photographs are inserted into contemporary settings, we open astonishing windows to the past."

Awesome Photos of Extreme Surfers And The Northern Lights

Most of the time when you think of surfing, you think of a beach with the hot sun and other beach-goers relaxing and enjoying the sand and water. In Norway's Lofoten archipelago in the Artic Circle, surfing is just a bit different! There, the surfers endure March ocean temperatures of 5–6°C and air temperatures around 0°C.

Olivier Morin, an Agence France-Presse photographer, took these photos in March 2016 that show intrepid Norwegians and visitors riding waves and admiring the amazing Northern Lights. We hope you enjoy his work below that we originally found on BuzzFeed

Be sure to check out all of the photos on BuzzFeed. If you think these photos are awesome, here are a few others we think you will enjoy.
