Winners Of The Smithsonian 14th Annual Photo Contest

You voted and Smithsonian.com has announced the winners of their 14th Annual Photo Contest! The contest ran from March 22, 2016 - November 30, 2016 and received over 48,000 submissions from photographers in 146 countries and territories.

Contestants submitted photos to the following seven categories: Natural World, The American Experience, Travel, People, Altered, Mobile, and Sustainable Travel.

Smithsonian Magazine Announces 14th Annual Photo Contest Finalists And You Can Vote For The Winner!

Smithsonian Magazine had their 14th Annual Photo Contest ran from March 22 - November 30, 2016. With over 48,000 submissions from photographers in 146 countries and territories to choose from, the judges have narrowed down to 70 finalists that you have the opportunity to vote on to help choose the winners. 

Contestants submitted photos to the following seven categories: Natural World, The American Experience, Travel, People, Altered Images, Mobile, and Sustainable Travel. The Sustainable Travel category is made possible through the support of United Eco-Skies.

Voting for the Readers’ Choice winner will close on Monday, March 27. Voting is limited to one vote per user per day. Click here to vote for the Readers’ Choice winner from among the 70 finalists. The Grand Prize, Readers’ Choice, and seven category winners will be announced on Tuesday, March 28.

Unique Wildlife Photography From Smithsonian's Annual Photo Contest

Wildlife photography is so amazing. Just like no person is exactly the same, the same goes for wildlife. They all have different environments they live in, they have their own unique personalities which in turn makes every single one unique. That is why when photographing wildlife, you never know what you will find or what you will come up with in the end.

Smithsonian Magazine Hosts Worldwide Photo Contest

We wanted to make sure that all photographers everywhere know that Smithsonian Magazine is currently accepting entries to its annual worldwide photo contest! The contest opened up for submissions this past March, but the final deadline is November 30, 2015. 

Contestants can submit up to 15 photos to each of the following seven categories:

• The natural world
• Travel
• People
• The American experience
• Altered images
• Mobile photos
• Sustainable travel

The grand prize is $2,500 and each category winner, as well as the readers' choice winner, will receive $500. The winner in the sustainable travel category will receive two round-trip plane tickets for travel to any place in North America, the Caribbean and Central America. 

Both professional and amateur photographers can enter this contest. For the photo to be eligible for entry, it must have been taken since January 1, 2013.
