11 Epic Landscape Photos By Andrew Ling

Seattle-based photographer Andrew Ling, 22, loves to photograph sweeping landscapes that show the scale and beauty of the world. He captures everything from the vast desert landscapes of Death Valley to the glaciers of Patagonia... and his work shows just how beautiful the world around us is.

Ling told Weather.com in their recent article, “When I travel, I look for a place that is trying to tell a story. Mountains and glaciers don’t tend to have voices, so I try to create one for them: Who has climbed them? How are we losing them?”

Ling does tons of travel each year to capture his photos. Last year, he drove 3,000 miles across the United States in six days in order to capture panoramic views of America’s landscapes. This year, he traveled to Chile to experience the breathtaking Torres del Paine National Park. As you can see from some of his photos below, he likes to photographs himself or other travelers against landscapes in order to give a sense of scale. He also likes to uses the weather to help enhance the feel of his photography.

“The weather is everything to my photography.” he said. “I love taking photos just an hour before the sun goes down - the golden hour - and also in good fog or some snow.”

We hope you enjoy these photos from Andrew Ling as much as we do!

Photo Of The Week

Today's photo of the week was taken by Elizabeth Bradshaw while she was visiting the North Carolina Zoo with her family. She calls this photo "The King."

Here is what she had to say about the photograph:

"I loved the way the lion was posed on this rock; it was just too perfect of a shot I couldn't resist. I'm an aspiring photographer and took this photo using the Canon T5I. The lens I used was a Canon EF 70mm-200mm f2.8L IS USM lens."

Adventure Wedding Photographer Captured Bride and Groom...and a Rattlesnake!

Johnny and Laura Benson had their wedding in Fort Collins, Colorado. After they said "I do" at a Catholic church in town, they went and took photos before the reception at the Horsetooth Reservoir because they both loved the outdoors.

Then, while Maddie with Maddie Mae Photography, an adventure wedding photographer, was capturing them together, a rattlesnake bit the groom on his ankle!!

“I felt this bump against my leg and, and I wasn’t sure I got bit or not. But I felt it. I looked down, and there it was, rattling,” Johnny told The Washington Post in their recent article. “I was like, ‘You gotta be kidding me. Did this really just happen?’ ”

They were taking photos on a trail that Johnny runs often, and he said that he usually runs with a rock in hand “for this very occasion. But not during wedding pictures.”

Laura urged Johnny to take a look at his ankle and the bite marks were there. “Still, the only thing I could think of is we’re going to miss our big expensive party,” he told The Washington Post.

Paramedics discussed calling a helicopter that carries anti-venom but Johnny wasn’t showing serious symptoms, so they took him to the emergency room instead, where medical workers confirmed the bite had been dry. No venom had been injected into Johnny’s ankle.

Laura was by Johnny’s side the entire time, making calls, alerting guests waiting for the couple at the reception and, finally leaving the hospital with her new husband to head to their wedding reception.

Here are a few more photos from their crazy adventure taken by Maddie Mae Photography.

It is definitely true what they say when you are a wedding photographer... you never know what is going to happen and you need to be prepared for anything. Your clients could be having their wedding totally outdoors and it is horrible rain and storms. Someone very special in the wedding could be very late and make everything run behind schedule. As a wedding photographer, you need to be flexible and make sure your their for your bride and groom and you work with what you have to capture the best photos you can of their special (and in this couple's case.... crazy) day!
